Clair Witwer Named New FFA President
Clair Witwer 16 son of Roy and Mrs Witwer of 617 Strasburg Pike was chosen Monday night to become the Lancaster County FFA president following Paul Eckman. Witwer is a Lampeter Strasburg student and a 180 pound wrestler with a quiet demeanor. The Lampeter Strasburg student body was informed of the election at a county reorganization meeting.

Christmas Program For Homemakers Set

Tobacco Buying Starts Early in Lancaster Market
The Lancaster County tobacco market opened seven weeks early with wrappers at 34 cents, fillers 20 cents, and straight stripped at 30 cents per pound. Rumor of 33 cent pull-off denied. Slow trading blamed on shed burn, moldy tips, and holiday schedules as farmers and buyers gauge damage and crop quality. Pennsylvania S W District Endorses Bills
The Pennsylvania Association of Soil and Water Conservation District Directors endorsed four House Bills on reclamation revegetation fish ladders and a constitutional air water and environment amendment.
