Lancaster County dominates Timonium show with multiple wins
Lancaster County fared strongly at the Timonium Eastern National Livestock Exposition. A four H group entered five Angus steers that won in a competitive class, repeating last year’s triumph. Hereford entrants and Shorthorn entries also earned top placements across divisions. Local 4 H members and Lancaster County breeders claimed several ribbons and high finishes amid statewide and national competition.

James Groff of RD7 Lancaster topped 14 dressed capons to win the county Capon Club Roundup judged by Carl Dawson Pennsylvania State University. The event emphasized meat yield and judged breast quality in a show addressing improvements and meat type birds.

Prime yearlings from Lancaster and nine nearby counties sold at the Southeast District 4H Club Baby Beef and Lamb Sale at Lancaster Stock Yards. Auctioneer Abe Diffenbach led a four hour sale with 299 head. total receipts were $73,543.41. Grand champion was Butchie the Angus shown by Phyllis Buss, selling for $1.06 lb and $1,261.40 total.
