Chester County 4 Hers Sweep District Show
Chester County 4 H'ers swept the Southeast District 4 H Baby Beef show at the Lancaster Stockyards. Ronald Mentzer, 16, Downingtown High School, exhibited a 1010 pound Angus to top honors and earned a rosette in his first Lancaster appearance. The champion steer sold to Kunzler and Company at 87 cents per pound. The reserve champion Angus, 960 pounds, was shown by Fred Miley of Downingtown and sold to Exton Sales Company at 45 cents per pound. The champion Hereford, shown by Fred Lawton Jr. of Quarryville, sold to Stockyard Inn at 40 cents per pound. The 1045 pound steer shown by the Linton family was named champion over Nancy Frey’s entry, with Frey’s steer selling to Consolidated Dressed Beef Company for 34 cents per pound.

Wesley Mast Earns Reserve At Timonium Fair
Wesley Mast narrowly missed a second grand championship at Timonium showing both the Hereford and Angus reserve champions. He led the 4-H Angus exhibition with a clean sweep, as the Eastern National Livestock Exposition opened in Timonium Maryland.

Frey FFA Youth Tops Carcass Class at Timonium Show
John Frey fourteen from Quarryville R2 earned honors in the on-rail carcass steer judging at the Eastern National Livestock Exposition in Timonium Maryland. His steer placed fourth in the on-hoour judging at the Timonium show. He entered the project through Solanco High School with a Keystone Eisenmetre sire from Fred Frer’s herd.

SCD Directors Approve Plans For Five Farms
Lancaster County Soil Conservation District directors approved five conservation plans covering 499 acres Monday night. Two district director terms expire January 1, 19638, per state Soil Conservation Service notes. County Commissioner Richard Witmer and Committee Chairman Amos Funk will complete their terms but may be reappointed by the County Commissioners who appoint district members.

Milk Producers Co op Set for 27th Interstate Meeting in Philadelphia
A two day session in Philadelphia at the Benjamin Franklin Hotel will discuss agricultural changes and milk marketing. About 100 attendees including 134 official delegates are expected for the Inter-State Milk Producers 27th annual meeting, with business sessions on November 29 and 30.

Watershed Meet at Penryn Features Film and Panel
