Three Youths Win Savings Bonds In Soil And Water Essay Contest
Three Lancaster County 4-H members won awards for essays on soil and water conservation. Awards sponsored by the Lancaster Kiwanis Club were presented at Tuesday noon at the Hotel Brunswick by agriculture committee chairman John Long. Dorothy Garber, 17, daughter of Snavely Garber, won first prize and a 50 dollar savings bond. Barrett Barry, 13, of Bainbridge R1, and Darlene Ebesole, also 13, of Stevens R1, each won $25 bonds.

CVA Directors Postpone Meet to January Reorganization
The Conestoga Valley Association board voted to move the reorganization meeting from December to January. The January 30 session will also reconstitute the membership, with president John Kitch noting a review of director duties to lighten the load. Of 33 directors, about 12 attend meetings regularly.

Larry Brubaker of Mount Joy Ri took both top prizes at the Elizabethtown Mount Joy 4-H Capon Club roundup held at Hostetter's banquet hall. He earned a perfect 20 in exhibt and a 93.5 total project score to win the buc ripbon. Brubaker’s nine pound exhibit sold for 3585 to Joseph Shaeffer of Mount Joy Rotary Club. Virginia Wivell of Columbia R placed second in both exhibit and project scores, with an eight pound exhibit bought by Henry Carpenter for 5.20.

Lancaster County 4-H Council organizes a 10 to 15 member delegation to visit Onondaga County New York for the last weekend in December.
