Lancaster County Storm Causes Damage and Crops Update

Showers and thunderstorms move across Lancaster County Tuesday night into Wednesday afternoon, crippling power and phone service in parts. Lightning killed three Hereford steers in Hensel Peach Bottom while Christiana saw torrential rain and fruit losses. Hay crops progress, tomatoes suffer 20 to 25 percent loss from a Wednesday freeze, corn planting 60 to 70 percent complete, strawberries killed in blossom.
