The Lancaster County Poultry Association sponsors the Sixth Annual Broiler Barbecue at Lititz Springs Park on Saturday June 9 from 3 to 8 p m. An expected 7000 to 8000 people attend with June 16 as a rain date. Features include a Poultry Queen coronation, barbecue display and family entertainment.
Robert Kreider, son of Clyde Kreider of Quarryville, was named president of the Lancaster County 4-H Agricultural Council. Miss Josephine Lausch, daughter of Norman and Mrs Lausch of Denver, was named president of the County Home Economics Council. Both succeed current head Walter Augsberger of Reinholds. Lancaster County Poultry Association officials announced the ground breaking for a new 30 000 Poultry Center on Thursday while replying to a letter claiming a clash with the proposed Community Center. Association secretary Lewis L Mortensen urged unity among agricultural groups to back the center as a separate facility supporting community needs.
