Championship hay: Crouse’s drying, seeding, and silage plan
Crouse converts a corn crib shed into a drying barn using ducted hot air to cure alfalfa hay. He yields over five tons per acre, harvests four times a season, seeds with oats as nurse crop, and uses rye and corn silage to support feed needs while managing pests and storage on a 72 acre farm with 36 hay acres.
