Free Stall Milking Parlors Highlight Lancaster Tour Notes
On a Lancaster Farming tour in Quarryville and nearby farms, Garber demonstrates a seven by forty-two foot stall layout with eight foot alleys and a half hour daily cleaning. He emphasizes watching others milk to choose a parlor and uses automated helpers to guide cows. Kreider’s operation features bulk milk handling, a six place side opening parlor, underground manure storage, silage augers, and a 800 gallon spreader, with cows freshening in stalls and an amusing pump mishap noted.
