Kenneth Grumbling of Stevens Ri, a Cloister FFA junior, topped the York Lancaster area land judging contest at Susquehannock High School Glen Rock York County. Four Cloister members finished in the top ten and Grumbling credited hard study for his first-year success. Runner up was Richard Smith of Solanco FFA Chapter.

Snavely Shows Wheel Track Planting On Family Farm
Jerry Snavely adopted wheel track planting after a college paper inspired him. He built a two row planter and adapted a 30 year old tractor, starting with 40 acres and expanding to 126 acres in continuous corn. Benefits include $5 per acre savings in tillage, less soil erosion, and improved soil tilth and water holding capacity.

Special Meeting Sets Youth 4H Sol and Water Projects
A special meeting for the 4H Sol and Water Conservation Project is scheduled for Thursday May 13 at the Farm Bureau Building in Lancaster. Winthrop Merriam says the program is open to any current 4H member or any 4H age youth, regardless of residence. The meeting will explain the project distribute record books and outline the awards program.
