Lancaster extension livestock specialist Lester Burdette told county cattlemen at Brecht School that feeding all corn silage can nearly double beef pounds per acre versus air grain rations. He stressed feed costs dominate totals and urged use of additives and an eight point starter program including Vitamin A injections and gradual grain increases.

Pennsylvania Tops Nation in New Holstein Assn. Membership
Brattleboro Vermont report shows Pennsylvania with 1009 new Holstein association members, leading the nation. New York followed with 183 and Wisconsin with 98 as 44 states are represented in the year end list approved in Cleveland. The Holstein-Friesian Association grants breeding and voting rights, with over 45 000 members and 14 000 juniors in 4H and FFA projects.

Pennsylvania agriculture nears billion-dollar status says Sec. Bull
State Agriculture Secretary Leland H. Bull told 183 Farm & Home Foundation members that 15 states had gross farm incomes over one billion dollars and that with improving weather Pennsylvania could join them. He noted the sector is now part of Pennsylvania’s total program and that the agriculture future looks bright. Five directors were reelected and two new leaders, J Everett Kreider and Harry K.
