Penn State dairy specialist H C Gilmore shows that 11 cows producing 16 200 pounds of milk annually yield the same income above feed costs as 33 cows producing 9 000 pounds a year. He also finds 15 cows at 13 800 pounds equal 20 cows at 11 500 pounds. The data suggest pushing for higher individual production pays.
