Tomatoes Roll into Full Swing at Rawkinsville Farms

Park Eshleman and Charles Ressler manage receiving stations in Rawkinsville where green ripe tomato operations are set to peak this week. First picking last week yielded good size and quality, not surpassing last year's. At Park Eshleman farm 2500 to 3500 baskets per day were reported, with expectations this week from 5000 to 10000 baskets as yields rise with each picking.

Hess Wins Dairy Exhibit at Lancaster Field Day

Richard Hess of Strasburg won the adult class of dairy earade judging at the Lancaster County Holstein-Friesian Association field day held on the J Mowery Frey farm in R7 Lancaster. About 400 attended as Glenn Householder of Brattleboro Virginia spoke as director of extension for the national association.

Chicago Cattle Top at 27.75 In May 1955 Market

Chicago cattle Wednesday topped at 27.75 a hundredweight in a heavy 16 500 head run. Beeves brought mostly high prime 1200 to 1400 pound loads with three lots and a 2750 total. other sales ranged from 2625 to 25. The top price set a new load lot high since May 16 1955.
