Martin family runs Mastersonville market stand with acres of vegetables
Roy and Esther Martin operate Martins Market on a 46 acre Mastersonville farm, growing 95 percent of their produce including five acres of cantaloupes and 15 acres of sweet corn. They transplant in March from a 12 by 30 foot greenhouse, sell from May to Thanksgiving, and offer flowers, baked goods, jams, and home made drinks. The family helps with picking and packing, and four sons assist. The stand markets seasonal produce, eggs from a neighbor, and crafts from local vendors. They also raise broilers, sheep, and maintain pasture land with plans for future expansion.
