Soil Conservation District Sets Dates For Two Meetings
Lancaster County Soil Conservation District directors set July 23 for the annual plowing contest at Roy H Garber farm Lititz with a rain date July 30 and August 1 for Conservation Field Day at Gerald Darlington farm Lititz with rain date August 2. They approved plans for 17 new cooperators bringing total to 2044 and 1826 acres across listed farmers.

Grasslands FFA Wins Meat Contest Prizes
Grasslands FFA from the Grasslands chapter at New Holland swept the two top prizes in the two county Mets identification and a Judzinz contest held Thursday in Dallas town York County. Fred Lando Churchtown led all competitors with first place, repeating last year. Dale Houch Narvon Rt was runner up. In 1961 the Grasslands contingent took four of the five top places.

Eight members from Garden Spot Chapter Lampero Strasburg High School led a clean sweep at the York Lancaster Area Public Speaking and Parliamentary Procedure contest. Kenneth Wartin of Grasslands Chapter New Holland topped the public speaking with Keep the Knife Dull, followed by Donald Graybill David Graybill and Robert Wenger. judges included Stanley Musselman James Leamer and FF Batley. Second place in parliamentary procedure went to the Dover Chapter York.

A Polish farm manager visiting Lancaster County for three weeks is astonished by American mechanized farming. Edmund Apolnarski from near Poznan explains his 7000 acre collective with 600 cows 3000 sheep and 2000 pigs.
