County Calf Tops State Holstein Sale
A Lancaster County consignment led the first Pennsylvania State Holstein Calf Sale at the Farm Show Building Harrisburg. Winding Glen Paramount Canary, a September calf entered by John Metzler, Christiana, sold for 560 dollars to William C. Kepler of Middletown Maryland, whose 13 year old daughter Brenda will show the Canary calf as a 4 H project.

Three bus loads of local Holstein breeders visited four Chester County dairy farms on a Lancaster County Holstein Association tour. Donald Hostetter of Parkesburg presented his automation and efficiency system, housing 68 cows in a climate controlled barn with liquid manure, automatic feeding, and booster fans.

Cloister FFA wins county parliamentary procedures title
Cloister Chapter FFA nipped Grassland to take the county title at Manheim Central Junior High School. The squad led by president Earl Stauffer and coached by Charles Ackley includes Jay Smoker, Raymond Bollinger, Raymond Burkholder, Levi Heary, Glenn Martin, John Merley, and Larry Mowrer. Manheim placed third. Cloister and Grassland set a April 12 rematch at Kennard-Dale High School for the Lancaster York area contest.
