Soil Moisture Back To Favorable Levels in Pa

Smucker Tops Area Public Speaking in York County upset
York County Kennard-Dale High School hosted area FFA contests with public speaking and parliaments teams from York and Lancaster counties. Mike Smucker of Grasslands Chapter and Nelson Newcomer of Manor Chapter toppled county standings to claim area titles and will meet in the regional contest at Millersville State College on April 28. Smucker, 16, is the son of Edward F. and his wife.

Cloister FFA wins fourth straight area dairy title
A freshman Cloister FFA team defeated dairy judging competitors from six Lancaster York area high schools to claim its fourth consecutive area dairy products championship. Twenty nine contestants judged seven milk samples and head units while official judge Richard Willammee of Queen Dairy checked scores. The top four Cloister youths, Luke Martin, Lowell Sensenig, Jeffrey Pfautz, and Eugene Neilt, earned state contest eligibility at Penn State during FFA Week June 28 29 and 30. Paul Wise was the fifth Cloister member. Other placings included Dean Hess and Richard Thomas of Penn Manor.
