Lancaster Post Office Milestones and WWII Photos
The Lancaster Post Office began as Cayuga Creek in 1827, renamed Lancaster in 1833, and moved from Town Hall to Broadway before its 1938 opening at a cost near $80,000. One of seven area designs from 1935 to 1942, it shares a near identical plan with Depew. A 1938 photo shows the building with WWII recruitment signs, and a 1964 shot shows staff sorting Christmas mail.
