Gallivan introduces driver education bill on traffic stop procedures
Senator Patrick Gallivan and co sponsors push bipartisan legislation to require driver education and defensive driving classes to include proper procedures and behavior during traffic stops. The bill, endorsed by Police Conference of New York Inc and the NY State Troopers PBA, would create a DMV curriculum with input from state police and civil liberties groups. The measure, now before the Senate Transportation Committee, aims to reduce dangerous encounters and educate drivers and officers alike.
