The Village of Lancaster hosts a community decorating contest as part of its 175th anniversary celebrations. Sign ups close Friday Dec 6, with judging Dec 10 to 12. Prizes include opera tickets and gift cards for first place, plus a prize basket and historic books for other placements. Winners named Tue Dec 17.

Bunkers in Baghdad marks 16th anniversary of relief effort
Bunkers in Baghdad, a not for profit charity, celebrates 16 years since 2008 delivering 15 million golf balls and 1.5 million clubs to U S military personnel in all 50 states and 80 countries. The program aids injured veterans in Wounded Warrior programs and VA facilities while the Bunkers Buddies project engages 2 000 schools nationwide to decorate golf balls and send thanks. Donations fund shipping and fundraisers, with sponsors including Topgolf Callaway Golf HyFlyers Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.
