The Town of Lancaster proposal to bond 7.5 million dollars for a new park did not pass. Voters 12,918 against and 11,487 for, a 53 to 47 percent split. Supervisor Bob Leary says the board will focus on upgrading existing facilities rather than building new parks.
Patrick Chludzinski, a military veteran and former law enforcement official, won the NYS Assembly District 143 race over Monica Wallace with 29,772 to 27,459 votes amid ongoing counting. He vows to push fiscal restraint, lower taxes, and practical asylum-seeker integration while praising local police and engaging the Cheektowaga, Lancaster, Depew, and Sloan communities. Wallace issued a statement afterward.
Erie County Legislator April Baskin won the state Senate seat for the 63rd district, defeating Republican Jack Moretti with 66 percent to 34 percent. Baskin will take office January 1 for a two year term, succeeding Tim Kennedy who left the seat to join Congress. The 63rd district includes Buffalo, Cheektowaga, and Lackawanna.
