Guiding Eyes Erie Region trains guide dogs at no cost
Guiding Eyes for the Blind operates a New York based program with an Erie County region that raises puppies to become guide dogs for the visually impaired. Dianne Ende describes puppy raising from eight weeks to eighteen months before formal training in Yorktown Heights. Lions Clubs in Erie County, including Amherst Lions Club, support fundraising and donations to cover food and care for puppies, with awards presented to Guiding Eyes for service to Western New York.
