Pea Plant Reopens Under Lease-Purchase Agreement

The Texas Bean and Pea plant on the Lubbock Highway operates under a lease-purchase with Texas Sesame Company of Mule Shoe. Oatus Roberts Jr guides cleaning and shipping of pea beans for Texas Sesame, with beans fetching about 10 cents per pound and destined for Stokley Van Camp in Dallas for pork n beans. The facility, one of the state’s most modern, plans eight to ten million pounds of dried peas this year, despite rain delays hurting harvest near Muleshoe.

Man Shot Friday Night in Rosales Area

Police investigated a shooting that left Earnest Garcia 32 of Rosales Texas wounded twice, once in the shoulder and once in the hip, around 12:20 a.m. Saturday. A resident reported gunfire in front of WZ Rogers School and a nurse at Medical Arts Hospital confirmed treatment. Police said they had a one sided account and continued the inquiry.

City Council Set for Monday Meeting with Bids and Franchise

Postal Stamps Available Through The Mail Now

Office in Charge Doug Wilson announces Stamps By Mail service in the Lamesa area. Customers may order stamps and stamped envelopes by mail with personal checks or money orders. The program aids shut ins elderly and working wives. Leaflets are being sent to households and small businesses. A 40 cent fee covers two way postage and processing costs.
