Horse Show Closes Dawson County Fair Weekend

The final event of the Dawson County Fair, an Association AQUA Horse Show, will start at 9 am Sunday at the Lamesa Rodeo Arena. Restricted to registered quarter horses, the show is approved by AQHA and regional associations, with Jerry Boyer as manager and OG son Jr as judge.

Tractor Pull Rescheduled for Dawson County Event

The first annual Dawson County Tractor Pulling Contest was postponed from last Saturday to this Saturday due to a muddy arena from rainfall. Sponsored by the Lamesa Noon Lions Club, proceeds benefit the club’s charitable activities. Blacksmith Creates Life Like Metal Sculpture of Our Lady

David Gerry of O’Donnell, a rare local general blacksmith, crafts a full size sculpted image of Our Lady of Guadalupe from plain steel and mixed metals. He colors with acids dyes and india ink then seals with epoxy to endure outdoors in a rock grotto and plans more religious works.

Burglar Caught at Klyde Ray Residence

Enrique Guzman, 49, was caught in the act burglarizing the Ras home after noon Sunday when Sheriff deputies arrested him. He was drunk, in possession of items including a vacuum cleaner and a sack of meat from the property. Guzman jailed and fined $32.50 for the drunken charge and indicted by the Grand Jury for burglary.
