TAC conducts hearing on regional airport needs

Open house at Lamesa Campus Howard College Thursday

Howard College Lamesa Campus hosts an open house for local students and the public from 7 to 9 p m Thursday. Walter Bucker receives special honor for long service and role in developing the Lamesa campus. The remodeled facility at 1810 Lubbock Highway will showcase courses and answer questions.

Esther Miers Named Mother of the Year in Lamesa

Est er Miers earned the Mother of the Year honor after her son Casey submitted the winning entry in a Central Business Association contest. Casey wrote that his mother bakes money cakes and plays games with him while her two older Dawson students, Susan and Scott, are in high school. The Miers, raised in Sparenberg and Sands High School graduates, have been married 21 years.

Klondike High names valedictorian and salutatorian

Cynthia Cave is Klondike High School 1983 valedictorian with a 95.59 four year GPA and student council president this year. Melissa Schneider, salutatorian, holds a 92.43 GPA and is daughter of Dennis and Carol Schneider.

O Donnell High names class of 1983 valedictorian and salutatorian

Stacie Cogburn is named valedictorian of O Donnell High School class of 1983 with a 3.24 weighted GPA and 91.6 average, while Jesse Barrientes is salutatorian with a 3.18 weighted GPA and 90.3 average. Cogburn served on the newspaper and yearbook staff, was National Honor Society member, UIL regional qualifier, Who's Who, student council president, and emceed basketball and track as a senior.
