Two Mesquite men were jailed in Howard County on theft charges after police stopped a U Hall trailer in Big Spring containing 70 80 hubcaps and wheel covers. Officers said 19 hubcaps reported stolen in Lamesa Sunday night were among the haul as local investigations tied together multiple thefts across the area.

Fourteen year old David Sorola of Lamesa won the 31st Regional Spelling Bee after 79 rounds spelling chansonnette correctly to earn a June trip to the national contest in Washington D C. He edged Norwood Andrews III of Hutchinson Junior High in a two person face-off.
