Meridian Oil Corp completed No. 1 Cope and No. 1 Yates in the Tex-Hamon Dean field 13 miles south of Lamesa. No. 1 Cope yielded 115 barrels of 37 gravity oil and 20 barrels of water daily, with a 957 to 1 gas-oil ratio, after perforations at 8,864 to 9,044 feet. No. 1 Yates produced 142 barrels daily, with no water, at 915 to 1, from 8,886 to 9,021 feet. Both completions were stimulated with fluid and sand. Location details given for each well.

Lamesa High School senior Keith Merrick was named to the Texas All-State Choir after competing in Lubbock.
