May 6 Democratic primary looms in county races

Cotton Bale Count Now At 102193 And 3.76 In 76

Dawson County will see cash income to farmers and ranchers rise by more than 8.83 million dollars by 1976, per County Agricultural Agent Lee Roy Colgan. Cotton, cotton seed, grain sorghum, poultry and swine drive the gain, with total agricultural receipts reaching about 32 million in 1976 from 24.1 million in 1968-69. The projections stem from Texas Agricultural Extension Service studies as part of the 3.76 in 76 program, aided by the South Plains Development Program.

Cotton harvest nears 110000 bale mark in Texas weekly tally

Texas Employment Commission figures show 102193 bales tagged in Dawson County since harvest began with a weekly rise of 21950 bales. With the crop likely to top 110000, 24579 samples were classed by USDA in the week ending Jan 14, while prices eased to 29–31 cents.

Six Oil Tests Set For Welch

Kewanee Oil Co plans six exploration tests in the Welch San Andres field in Dawson County two miles NW of Welch. Tests projected to 5,000 feet target Block C-39 PSL survey North Welch Unit in Section 14 and 15 with locations identified by survey numbers and offset feet from section lines.

Electricity Rate Increase To Top Council Session

The City Council meets Monday at 7 p.m. to consider a six percent rate increase proposed by Texas Electric Service Co. LeRoy Olsak of TESCO will request the hike. Also on the agenda are bids for five police cars, Charter Review Commission commendations, charter amendments into effect, a first reading on Code penalties, and Brentwood Village Apartments rent supplement approval for elderly occupants.

Industrial Foundation Meet Slated

The Lamesa Industrial Foundation invites members to its annual membership meeting Thursday at 5 p.m. in the Community Room of Lamesa National Bank. Officers will be elected, five new directors chosen for three year terms, and 1971 progress reports will be presented. R. S. Wilton will preside. outgoing directors are Dallas Wood, L. T. Prather, Rupert Austin, Charles Bratcher, and Bill Satterwhite. Holdover directors are listed as Don Cox, LeRoy Olsak, J. D. Dyer Jr., L. C. Glen White Seeks Third Term as Dawson County Constable

Constable Glenn Bottles White, 43, a Dawson County native and Korean War veteran, announced Friday his bid for reelection. He works as a cotton ginner, is married with three children, and hopes voters back his quiet, efficient administration in a third term.
