Lamesa eighth grade girls defeated Denver City 23 to 20 as Olga Vasquez led with 8 points and Jo Ann Medina 5. Medina and Shaun Strahan each grabbed 9 rebounds while turnovers hurt the team late, then Lamesa momentum regained in the final period. They had beaten Snyder 38 9 last week and plan to face Seminole Thursday.

Seventh Grade boys basketball team fell to Denver City 34 32. Richard Caballero led Lamesa with 15 points. In Brownfield action they beat Big Spring 38 17 with McKinney scoring 11 and Caballero next. Lamesa then defeated Denver City 29 17 as Caballero had 8 and McKinney 7. Coach Massie praised hustle as next game vs Seminole is Thursday in Lamesa at 5 p.m.

Sands Boys and Girls Win Sterling City Tournament
The Sands roundballers captured both titles in Sterling City last weekend. In the boys final Sands beat Sterling City 53 to 37 with David Long scoring 16. In the girls final Sands defeated Water Valley 58 to 19 led by Jill Floyd with 17 points, with Floyd and Leslie Guitar on the girls all tournament squad and David Mosley joining Long on the boys squad.

Stanton Romps Klondike In 52-36 Contest
Stanton rolled over Klondike 52-36 as the Buffaloes built a 15-7 first quarter lead and led 30-22 at half. Tommy Hayes and Clay Holcomb each had eight points to share top honors.
