A teenage boy was killed and a young girl badly burned when irrigation pipe touched a high voltage line at a farm 14 miles north of Lamesa around 11 15 a m Saturday. Investigators say they were trying to remove a rabbit from the pipe. condition of the girl was unavailable. Miers Remains Critically Injured After Texas Crash
A 24-year-old Lameson man, Steve Miers, stayed in critical condition at Health Sciences Center Hospital in Lubbock after a Monday night one vehicle crash 13 miles south of Brownfield on State Highway 137. His wife Phyllis and stepdaughter Christy Maddox were in serious or stable condition, with two other passengers treated and released. Miers sustained severe injuries after the Ford Station Wagon overturned and struck a power pole, reportedly contacting live wires and losing several limbs.

Officials say a ticket by ticket audit by Mathews and Mathews with county auditor Donald H. Stephens will take at least three weeks to finish before any further action in the burglary case against Justice of the Peace Richard Nelson. Nelson was arrested June 28 for allegedly stealing more than 5000 dollars in furniture from Amos Supply.
