Klondike trustees set tax rate and hearing scheduled

Klondike Independent School District trustees will hold a public hearing at 8 p.m. Monday in the Klondike High School board room on the proposed 57 cent per $100 evaluation tax rate for 1981. The rate, lower than 1980, is offset by a 15.1 percent effective tax rate increase due to higher property values. For property owners with no value increases, taxes fall 4 percent. The 57 cents funds 50 cents for maintenance and seven cents for bond service, aiming to support a budget of $1,637,715 for 1981-82. After the hearing, the board will set a date for a public meeting to adopt the tax.
