Deaths and remains aboard Sheridan after transocean voyage

The Sheridan, carrying Minnesota and South Dakota volunteers and others, reached Fort Mason at dusk after leaving Manila on August 10. Three deaths occurred during the voyage and several bodies and remains of service members were brought home from the Philippines.

Currency Bill Introduced in Simla Session

In Simla today's Indian court session financial member Clinton Dawkins introduced the currency bill. He said the absence of the mint proclamation from England necessitated making gold legal tender immediately to avoid disaster and new taxes. Yellow Fever Cases Reported in New York City

Health officer Dr. Doty reports J. M. Burley showing yellow fever signs after Swinburne Island visit. Three suspected cases have developed into yellow fever including sisters Anna and Minnie Zimetzhaum and FC Agolozoga. Bryan Will Not Speak For Goebel In Kentucky

William Jennings Bryan wrote Kentucky leaders that he will campaign for ex Senator Blackburn but will not stump for Goebel. The decision was disclosed at a Goebel Democratic meeting as Bryan cited not wanting to enter a state issue fight.

Nebraska bank teller accused of $10000 theft

Onusha Nebraska Sept 9 Ned Copeland long employed as teller of the Ska National Bank is charged with embezzling 10000 on August 2 and fleeing to Adrian where relatives live. The crime remained hidden for about a month until his departure was noticed and detectives began pursuit after a period in Washington.
