Difference in Alfalfa Crops and Local Notes
A study from Utah stations shows first crop alfalfa yielding highest across five tests and fourteen of fifteen cuttings while third crop underperforms. Five year averages place first crop with the best beef per acre and third crop with the best feeding value, though third yields less dry matter per pound of gain. The issue also reports school openings, local letters from Cornell University on nature study leaflets, water and artesian well concerns, and notices on tuition and public works in Lamar Colorado in August 1899.
