Local Lamar items show varied town life and commerce

A parade of Lamar activity unfolds with Markham back from Denver, hardware drummers, land buyers from Close Brothers, and visits by McCartney and Poebl businessmen. The Osburn firm and local agents court orders while street crossings and gas cave-ins prompt city upgrades. cattle shipments, stockyard scenes, and railroad contractors fill the week as Dr. Snyder lectures Granada. The election and school funding shape the future, while Granada hosts hospitality and a warm, active community scene.

Prower County Teachers Meet at Granada Church

The Prower County Teachers Association held its annual meeting at the M E Church in Granada on Saturday April 30 with broad county representation and guests from Bent and Hamilton counties. Topics included Froebel and the Kindergarten presented by Miss Annie James with follow up papers by several teachers, Pestalozzi recited by J A Rosebrough, Quick's Fisiny on Spencer discussed by E R Jones, and an impromptu address by Dr. Snyder of the State Normal School at Greeley praising study of educational methods through the lives of great educators.

G S Kennedy will stay in Lamar to continue work while Mrs George Comer and daughter Millie visit Caddoa this week. J D Adkins goes to Caddoa to manage J L Mayfield's store. May weather brings sun rain and snow. A Rosebrough brother visits Granada. Bert Cooper opens a barber shop in Brenaman’s store space. School election elects W A Rabb as treasurer. W W Jones remains ill with no change. Tom Farmer suffers a severe horse kick and may need a doctor. Superintendent Barnes attends Gra nada city council meeting for business. Newmeister and Bolton move flour and feed stock into Mayfield building and plan hardware. Rey Aiderson receives a severe pounding from locals Friday. left resting at home.

Granada Lodge seeks bids for Odd Fellows hall

Sealed proposals for the erection of the new Odd Fellows hall in Granada will be received by the Granada Lodge I O C F committee until noon May 17 1898. Plans and specifications available at J L Mayfield's Granada store. Committee members J L Maurreny Frank Miraury W A Mernixt.
