Five mile from Lamar in Co. M. LEE area a 40 acre farm with house fence alfalfa and an old water right offered for sale. Also listed are Barred Plymouth Rock eggs at 50 cents per setting by W S Strain.
The article reports steady hotel construction progress with foundations laid. It covers inspections by C G Wade of Springfield Fire and Marine Insurance, grievances about the courthouse flag, local patrons and visitors, a variety of civic and social events, horse racing results, wartime enlistment sentiment, land office contests, new business offices, and community leaders touring Lamar and Hol ly areas.
The Holly schools closing exercises drew strong patron attendance and praise for Miss Sayer and Miss Kester. Patrons showed support for the teachers, commending the cash basis policy and noting a new, larger school building may soon be pursued. Davin Baryes
