Paul Radke of Weyerhaeuser drowned on the Red River drive near St Paul last Thursday. Carl Moller, 17, of Weyerhaeuser, drowned Sunday while swimming in the Chippewa River near town. Bodies recovered after extensive diving and dragging downstream.
Work on fair grounds progresses with track survey completed fence posts set and entrance arch built. Grounds cleared and premium list to printer in three weeks. Rusk County M W A Picnic Association holds annual meeting electing C K Ellingson Hawkins president and Arrowsmith Ingram secretary with August picnic planned in Ingram.
The parade committee urges every business in the city to enter a float with farmers nearby supplying teams and wagons. D Ingle, chairman, invites suggestions. At a church meeting the Congregational Church voted to grant its pastor a three month vacation starting around July 10 to rest, while keeping services open.
Starting Monday June 17 the Wisconsin Central Railway operates a Ladysmith to Abbotsford service with Train 902 departing 8:00 a.m. and arriving 11:30 a.m. and returning Train 901 from Abbotsford at 2:15 p.m. arriving Ladysmith 5:45 p.m. Connections at Abbotsford link north and south. Regular services next Lord's Day include morning sermon The Gospel of Nature and 10 am Sunday school. Midweek Thursday 8 pm prayer meeting. Methodist service Sunday afternoon 2 pm and 5 pm preaching Our Possessions with prayer at 8 pm Thursday at Mrs Dilly's home.

Wisconsin B Y P A announces a special nine rail journey to the sixteenth international convention of Baptist Young People in Spokane July 4 to 7. The Wisconsin delegation will travel from St Paul July 2 in private sleeping cars, stay thirteen days on the train with meals in a private dining car, visit Salt Lake City Pike’s Peak Colorado Springs and Denver, and return with optional end dates through September 15. Wilbur L. Clapp of Appleton leads transportation and offers full information at no cost.
Ambrose and Drum announce a new feed warehouse near the Soo depot in Ladysmith. The 56 by 40 foot building is described as one of the best locations for such a facility, with F Ambrose and D Drum noted local residents and firm partners.
Miss Belle Conklin departs for Madison to take a librarians course. Miss Lucy Rosenquist will oversee the library in her absence. The Library Board received a copy of the 1906-1907 Congressional record to inform readers about the 59th Congress. The Rusk County Development Association will meet July 1 at the courthouse to coordinate benefits from a new immigration board law.
The Common Council met Monday night and granted saloon licenses to Thomas Baker, John Lindoo, Herman Decker, Grant Wilson, and Leinekengel Brewing Co. Otto Schroeder Volkman Bros. and Rock Leveille had their applications laid over to the next meeting awaiting bonds. The license for COGSS ifs was laid over for a legal question. Council adjourned to next Monday evening.

Mr and Mrs A I Reigle and daughter Dorthy spent the day with friends here Sunday. Miss Alica Musser and cousin Curt Goss visited their little friends here Friday. Mr and Mrs F E Atkinson and Mrs Smythe and son spent Saturday night and Sunday at Israce. Roy Smythe, who has been making his home here for some time, left Wednesday for Polo ll.
