Library board signs fall lecture contract with notable acts
The library board met with Fred Arne of the Columbian Lyceum Bureau to sign a contract for a series of high class entertainments next fall and winter. Parker Miles is re engaged, Wickersham praised, and Chicago Glee Club Old Plantation Singers and a magician added. Season tickets urged. The Ladysmith Fire Department track team returned from Horicon with $99 in prize money across events and set a new record despite prize reductions.

Oil Tank Arrival and Plant Construction Underway
The Standard Oil storage tank arrived and was unloaded Sunday. A 24 by 48 foot warehouse is nearing completion this week with a 20 000 gallon capacity tank. A high board fence will enclose the plant. Jas Beemis of Cleveland Ohio oversees the work. Henry Hoffman of St Paul will arrive soon to drive the oil wagon.

Rev H F Barstow Returns as Home Missionary Secretary
Rev H F Barstow, former pastor of the Christian church here for three years, arrived Tuesday night and resumes duties as corresponding secretary of the Home Missionary Society with headquarters at Grand Rapids. His daughter May, last at William Woods College in Fulton, Missouri, will join him for the summer. Barstow plans to conduct services at the Christian church next Sunday the 30th and will return home in a week or so.

Lightning Ends Life of Local Homesteader
A man living on a homestead about a mile and a half northwest of Apollonia was struck by lightning during a thunderstorm Monday evening around eight. His brother and wife found him dead on the floor when they returned home. The report appears in county clerk records of issued licenses and local notices.

The Darlington Company of Chicago closed a deal for 1240 acres on the Flambeau river in Rusk County from Daniel Shaw Co.
