League Members Lobby For Passage of Bills
Members of the League of Women Voters of Texas met in Austin on February 24 to register as lobbyists for the 62nd Legislature. Delegates from 41 local Leagues and about 5,000 members discussed bills to end annual voter registration, improve welfare through healthcare childcare and legal aid, create an independent Human Relations Commission, and ensure Texas water development. Lt Governor Ben Barnes and House Speaker Gus Mutscher attended a luncheon for legislators.

National LWV Supports Reform of Welfare System
