The new steel bridge over the Grande Ronde river on the road from this city toward Clerks creek and Indian creek sections was completed last week and given to the county court. County Judge Henry and Commissioners Brown and Selders with La Grande visitors and the city council inspected and accepted the structure as first class. The bridge is longer and higher than the old one, with approaches being finished by Bridge Superintendent Campbell. Total cost is expected to be about 5000 dollars. Easterday & Co. built it, and the project earns praise from Elgin and the county.
