Audiences pack the Pastime as Taylor Stock Co. presents Chick, The Mountain Waif in four acts, hailed as the best local melodrama yet. Crowds prove they will pay for a quality show, with final performances tonight and a candy matinee tomorrow featuring A Family Affair followed by a great military drama.
Public notice declares a June 22 1909 special election in La Grande Union County Oregon to decide on adopting or rejecting a revised consolidated city charter. Polls run 9 am to 5 pm in four wards with designated judges and clerks. Ballot title prepared by city attorney under initiative and referendum laws.
M. Snyder, Mandel Snider has secured the agency of the Waterbury heating and ventilation system for schools and public buildings. The La Grande public school already uses it with success after months of practical testing. Snider, a fourteen year Union County teacher, promotes equitable heat and air in classrooms and other spaces.
W. J. Spencer and his family with Char lie Houghton left this morning for Whiskey Creek to camp until the Fourth. Mr Spencer plans an extended cruise while in the Wallowa country.

A Sprinfish North Carolina merchant, Geo B Blevens, was told his son faced hopeless consumption by two doctors including a Jung specialist. Dr Kina's New Discovery allegedly cured in three weeks, with Mr Blevens claiming it restored his son's health. The ad touts cures for coughs and lung diseases, price 50 cents to 1.00, with a free trial bottle.
Drugstore sold product at price one dollar with a trial mail order package offered for ten cents. Williams Manufacturing Company is listed as the proprietor or sponsor of the offer.
