Jack O'Brien, newly arrived Cove coach, reports his ball team in fine fettle and confident they will defeat Union Sunday. He cites big league material among Cove players and notes a third game showing strong hitting, while Union has suffered few defeats this season and faces a challenging line at the big arena.
West end of Umatilla county will not receive a union high school for now as petitions to the district boundary board were deemed defective. The board refused to issue election orders, though petitioners linked the district with four others to seek a favorable vote at the annual school meeting. State officials declared the petitions irregular, blocking the interdistrict election.
