Separate trial granted in Hall conspiracy case shocks Portland

Trial of Editor Putman in libel suit to be taken up

The trial of Editor George Putman in a libel suit brought by District Attorney Reams will likely be discussed at the State Editorial association meeting next Friday. The case stems from Putman’s criticism of the district attorney and the grand jury. In Cripple Creek Colorado a deep drainage tunnel bid was opened. The successful bidder must complete the contract by January 1, 1911. The tunnel will be 7 by 10 feet or 8 foot circular bore, about 15 600 feet long with 1 200 feet already completed.
