Staff photographer Steve Noffke reports a fire at the South Side Festground around 6 50 p m Monday. Fire officials say the blaze began in a wastebasket in a trailer housing a women’s restroom. Neil Collins, a sheriff’s deputy, sustained a burned hand but was not hospitalized. About 10 firefighters and two engines plus a squad unit remained for roughly 75 minutes.

Area Crop Losses Top $23 Million in Wisconsin
Drought through September drives area crop losses in seven Western Wisconsin counties totaling about 23 million dollars.
