Two Street Workers Hired For OMNI Project

County Judge Eugene Toepel launches the OMNI program hiring two street workers to assist delinquency-prone youths. The aim is to curb a 22 percent rise in delinquency referrals to County Court Branch I for juveniles. Robert L. Hoffmann is hired to work out of the YMCA.

Two Drownings Reported in Minnesota

Twin Cities area drowning incidents claimed two lives. Emil L. Olson, 27, of Minneapolis, drowned at Moore Lake in Fridley while attempting to retrieve a toy boat. divers recovered him about four hours later. Craig A. Thorson, 16, of Cottage Grove, drowned in the Mississippi River near the Gen Eva bridge at Grey Cloud Island after stepping into a dropoff while wading with a friend.
