Cooler Air To Rout Midwest Heat Wave
Cooler air spreads into Minnesota from the Dakotas ending a string of triple-digit heat. The Weather Service says the heat wave in the Dakotas and Minnesota is nearly over with highs 90 to 102 expected, cooler by midweek. Power demand peaked at 3,850 megawatts in the region with New Ulm suffering an electric outage after gas supply cut, while Morris and Wheaton schools closed early due to heat. Livestock stress rising but wind shifts and a cold front temper temperatures into the upper 70s and 80s.
