Ed Rusk a prominent Hillsboro area farmer was crushed between an engine and the feeder of a threshing separator Monday morning while preparing to hull clover. His five year old son Ralph alerted his mother, and Mrs. Rusk found him dead. Dr. N Hamilton of Waynetown called it a broken neck and severed jugular vein. Rusk formerly Cain township assessor leaves a wife and five children.

Ill health curtails Nora Ramsey's schooling
Miss Nora Ramsey has been kept from school due to illness after two hemorrhages of the lungs last Friday. Her parents were away visiting Danville but rushed home upon learning of her sickness. She is somewhat better, but the doctor expects several days before she can rise. The measles last winter are thought to have caused the current trouble.

Covington Fair Pace Delivers Narrow Outcomes for Local Horses
At the Covington fair Kingman visitors praised two local horses in the 2:30 pace on Tuesday. Lemon Girl owned by Webb Metsker placed third in heat one, fourth in heat two, and fifth in heat three, while Harry Thistle, owned by Moore and Gose, finished fifth, sixth, and second, earning third money. The barn notes limited summer work yet a remarkable showing, with Lemon Girl garnering much support among horsemen despite a close second in the second heat. Steiner Girl also paced, reportedly running a mile in 2:09, contributing to fast company.
