Jenkins to Move to Crawfordsville Visting Plans Mentioned

Rev E J Jenkins planned to rent a house in Crawfordsville on Wednesday as his family prepares to move there soon. They also expect to visit her mother in Pennsylvania during the winter. Ora Horsley and his wife with son Clarence spent Friday with his parents Mr and Mrs Geo Hurley. Miss Fanny Sowers visited Covington Tuesday to see sister Mrs Charles Massey and family. Miss Elizabeth Bove visited Veedersburg Wednesday to see Miss Louise Baker.

Death of Civil War Veteran Henry Dunklebarger

Last Wednesday morning Henry Dunklebarger died at 4 30 after a brief illness. The 70 plus year old veteran is survived by an aging wife and two children. Short services were held at the home and the body will be taken to Lafayette for burial with C M Spencer driving the automobile funeral car.

Marriage Licenses Reported by County Clerk

County Clerk Homer McKinney issued several marriage licenses this week. Orla Jefferson Wade and Myrtle Lucile Reynolds, both of Indianapolis, wed Wednesday morning in the clerk’s office. Edwin Cox of Shawnee Township wed Maude L. Waldron at the M E parsonage. Theodore C. Schultz and Fern Wilson, both of Veedersburg, were also licensed.

Blaze Near Hadley Home Quickly Extinguished

A small fire at the Hadleys home Tuesday morning was doused before the volunteer fire company arrived. Mrs Hadley tried to relight a gasoline stove after a boiler of cloth nearby boiled over. Flour poured on the blaze byMrs Hadley saved the house from destruction.

William Parish Undergoes Second Gall Stone Operation

William Parish a noted farmer west of Yedda is in Indianapolis Methodist hospital after a second gall stone operation last Friday. The two hour plus procedure removed fifteen large stones and the gall bladder to prevent further buildup. Dr. E D Clark led the operation and Parish was reported improving at the last check.

Cox Family Reunion Sets Third Annual Gathering

The Cox family held its third annual reunion on Thursday September 2 at W F Swaim’s country home. A large group enjoyed a noon feast and a children led afternoon program with group photos. Organizers hoped for stronger turnout and better plans for the next reunion. One attendee recalls the event.

George Madden Recovers From Typhoid After Short Outing

George Madden, confined to his room for three weeks with typhoid fever, shows rapid improvement and enjoyed a brief auto ride down to Rushcreek. His friends look forward to seeing him downtown again. The Needleworkers Club met Tuesday afternoon with ten members and a guest, Mrs. F. S. Cuthbert, served light refreshments. Virgil Lancers helped his brother Vern move his family to Veedersburg on Thursday.
