Concert Favorites Attract Big Local Lecture Saturday
The Concert Favorites Clay ton Conrad Irene Marmein and Lilian Johnston will headline a Saturday evening program October 18 at eight o clock. Conrad a Chicago cartoonist will illustrate songs while the others sing. Season tickets cost 125 with 35 cents for single admission. Former Kingman girl Miss Alela Copeland wed Mr R C Cannon in Louisville.

Boy Moore Undergoes Serious Appendectomy at Home
Edward Moore thirteen year old son of Mr and Mrs W A Moore underwent a serious operation for appendicitis at their home last Saturday afternoon. Dr E D Clark of Indianapolis did the surgery under the supervision of Dr A L Ratcliff. As we go to press the patient is progressing nicely and hopes for a permanent recovery are held.

Iola Sowers Added to School Notes Composition
In our School Notes column last week we omitted Iola Sowers English I from the Trees composition. The staff will place writers names at the close of each article so students receive full credit and readers know who earned print. Karl Wright suffered a badly injured eye from a green walnut at a Saturday chicken roast. The impact dulled the eye. Mrs Albert Farr and daughter Mrs Fred Madden and child visited Covington yesterday. Mrs E E Baker of Veedersburg stayed with her parents Thos Glascock. Ratcliff's Meat Market offers all kinds of meat. John Keller was in Veedersburg Wednesday.

Veedersburg Editor Chas. M. Berry Dies at 51
Chas. M. Berry veteran editor and founder of the Veedersburg News died at his home Wednesday at 12:30 PM after a brief illness. He was 51 and survived by a wife and son. Funeral services were held at 2 PM and the body shipped to Waynetown for burial with the Masonic lodge in charge.

Library notes delay library building plans across several cities
Architects from Terre Haute Brazil Roachdale Indianapolis Crawfordsville and Danville Jr have submitted sketches but no action until Carnegie replies. He recently returned from Scotland and the board expects news to proceed. The board will purchase the lot once legal papers are prepared. Red tape slows construction this fall and work will start in the spring.

Soldier Gillam Dies After Long Civil War Trials
John Gillam elder son of Osborn and Emeline Gillum born May 29 1842 near Kingman Indiana. He served in Co I 31st Indiana Volunteer Infantry and was wounded at Ford Donnels February 15 1862. Discharged due to disability and spent years recovering before returning home to farm. He married Hulda Parkhurst December 29 1880 and had two children Malinda and Leslie. He joined the M E church in 1889 and was a devoted Mason. He died October 9 1913 at age 71 years 4 months and 10 days. He leaves a wife, two children, siblings and several relatives.
