Gun Barrel Burst Wounds Ned Inlow in Woods

Ora Ned Inlow was injured Tuesday afternoon while testing a new automatic shotgun at a woods near Eden Gose’s home. A defective or overpowered load shattered the barrel. a fragment struck his left hand, severing a finger and causing heavy bleeding. Dr Cuthbert treated him. his condition was improving as press time. Earnest Gose assisted.

Daughter and sister visit accused man in jail

The county jail saw JoHn Crumley and his daughter Arvilla visit Gilbert Crumley, charged with murdering his wife. They brought tokens of support and spent over an hour with him. Arvilla believes her father is innocent and the defense plans a long, hard fight without revealing strategy.

Man claiming to be Jesse Dowdell detained at White House

A man calling himself Jesse Dowdell of Silverwood Indiana was arrested at the White House after insisting on meeting President Taft to appeal for lower living costs. He is unarmed and in custody for examination. Dowdell, a coal miner, is said to be delusional and his relatives cannot explain his recent actions.

Farmers Husk 17 Acres in Kinman Benevolence

Fourteen farmers gathered at Ira Robbins home and husked about 17 acres of corn as a charitable act. The effort grew from Masonic and Odd Fellows lodges with Robbins ailing but able to assist lightly. Robbins expressed deep gratitude for the surprise kindness reflecting community faith and neighborly duty in Kingman.

High School Debating Societies Form and Sports Update

The high school split into two debating factions forming The Websterian and The Ciceronian Societies with chairmen elected to lead Friday debates. Six debaters will represent the school in a triangular contest with Veedersburg and Covington. Basketball practice advances as the alumni game nears Thanksgiving with a 10 cent admission.

Pine Village renter to occupy Ned Inlow property March first

Jas W Steele of Pine Village visited last Thursday to arrange on a 90 acre farm recently owned by J G Eberle joining the corporation line. He will occupy the Ned Inlow property after March 1 with his family of five, noted as skilled carpenter and accomplished violinist and composer.
