Fountain County's Oldest Citizen Dead

Joshua Cates, born April 1 1816 in Virginia, died March 20 1915 at age 98 years 11 months 20 days. He lived as a pioneer blacksmith, farmer, and devout church member in Orange County Indiana and Fountain County. Survived by five children 30 grandchildren 49 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. He joined East Liberty Christian church under Rev James Connor Jr and remained an ardent supporter. The obituary honors his long life and faith with quotes from scripture and family references.

Three Banquets Burst Forth Across Three Churches

Three church groups the Young Married People’s Classes from Methodist United Brothers and Christian held separate banquets on the same night in different rooms of the library building and church. Each group reported a merry evening with fine programs and good times for all attendees.

Scaffolding Collapse Injures Five Men at Union Church

A scaffold gave way while workers built a new roof on the Union Church south of Grange Corner about 11 30 Tuesday. Theron Ratcliff Tim Alward Joe Thomas Robert Hopkins and John Myers fell about 15 feet and were hurt. Ratcliff was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for surgery and is reported improving. Hopkins remained in bed with a back injury.

Prize Contests Postponed by Local Merchants

Prize contests scheduled to start Saturday April 3 have been postponed indefinitely as laws are studied. Local readers interpret the statute to impose heavy fines for violations, prompting merchants to pause the events as a precaution.

Mrs Charles Johnson Dies at Home After Long Illness

Mrs Charles Johnson died at her home three miles south of here after nearly three years of illness. She leaves her husband three brothers a half sister and nineteen nephews and nieces. The obituary will appear in next week's issue.

Run Away Accident Injures 14 Year Old Near Yeddo

Lee Glascock son of Mr and Mrs Al Glascock was injured Monday when a farm wagon team ran away near the Ira Bonebrake farm. The pole struck him on the head leaving him unconscious. He remained under care as he slowly improves. The team and telephones poles suffered damage.

The Tan gier High School senior class presents The American Bride a musical comedy Saturday March 27 at the high school auditorium. Death toll of Turkey Run owner leaves vast estate

John Lusk, renowned hermit bachelor and owner of Turkey Run, dies near the Narrows of Sugar Creek ten miles southeast of here after a brief pneumonia illness. At about 75, he leaves roughly 1300 acres of timberland valued between 40000 and 50000 dollars. Funeral held at Lusk Chapel with Rev. C H Law officiating. interment in the Lusk private cemetery.

At the U B Church Sunday School opens at the usual hour with an Easter sermon to follow. A Young People's meeting is set for 6 30 with preaching again at 7 30.
