Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Cecil planned a 25th wedding anniversary dinner but a May 20 fire destroyed their home. Neighbors organized a surprise gathering Sunday at the old Cecil house with food, good cheer, and gifts including a silver service set.
Auditor Gray visited his office Monday morning after marrying Zoe Victoria Jones. Courthouse staff left a card on a chair reading good wishes for the couple. County officers signed the tribute, and court house ladies gifted a cut glass water set with similar blessings for health and happiness.
Mr and Mrs Stoddy Rector have moved here from Dalhart Texas and are currently living with Wm Ratcliff the latter's father.
Edna Ristine wins against Noah Teegarden and wife in Veedersburg over a 26 acre land transfer from her husband’s estate. The court found the deed obtained by Teegarden fraudulent and set it aside, with appraisals placing land value between 1 600 and 2 000 dollars.
A petition to vacate and relocate a public highway in Jackson township has been filed with the board of county commissioners. The proposed route would affect lands owned by Lorenzo Myers Levi Myers W B and Emma Myers Oscar Grimes Lulu Krout and Hiram D Allen. Viewers will be appointed at the July term of the commissioners court.
Oral Pearson of Yeddo drove to Attica with Harry Orvis Vess Crowder and Albert Newman when a Mecca car behind them passed too closely and turned in causing Pearson’s Reo to hit a telephone pole and ditch. The front wheel was wrecked and two passengers injured. Pearson plans a damages suit.
Dr R R Pollom of Cates is moving to Darlington where he will practice next week. He is highly regarded and enjoyed strong patronage at Cates as friends lament his departure. Alex Blair of Ashborough South Carolina and Wm Jackson of Danville Virginia visited here recently. Mrs Anna Cates and her son Paxton returned to Frankfort after visiting Chas Best and family. A moving picture show operates at the opera house each Saturday.
Kingman announces a public sale of fifty lots in a new west end addition by Taylor Co. The twelve acre tract is surveyed and staked with streets marked, trees and poles whitewashed, and the Kingman band to play at 1230 p m. The sale starts at 1 p m with bids to the highest bidder as a crowd gathers for bargains and home building.
In Shawnee township Geo Starkey argued with contractor Elbert McKee and boss John Nolan over work. He returned with a six shooter, threatened to kill, but George Starkey's father William restrained him. a round fired harmlessly. Deputies arrested Starkey for assault and battery with intent to kill.

A big Auburn auto driven by Clifford Banta overturned near Marshall on Tuesday night, killing Miss Mable Stockdale and injuring Miss Diantha Newlin. Dr. Francis McIntire and the others escaped serious harm as the car wrecked after overturning twice. Stockdale died from internal injuries after aiding Newlin, who suffered a broken collarbone.
Miss Ressa Ewbank writes from near Indianola Mississippi describing farm life in the cotton state. She notes gardens fruit crops and local fishing while recounting a boating mishap and school progress with strong exam grades and upcoming graduations.
